Is the astigmatism measurement higher after pupil dilation?
In real life, some patients develop abnormally dilated pupils due to accidents, causing significant difficulties in daily life and studies—and severely compromising quality of life.
Does散光 (astigmatism) increase after cycloplegia?
No, astigmatism does not increase after cycloplegia. Cycloplegic agents fully relax the ciliary muscle, thereby eliminating visual fatigue and pseudo-myopia. Consequently, the measured refractive error typically decreases by approximately 50 diopters following cycloplegia. Medically, cycloplegic refraction enables accurate determination of the type and degree of refractive error. If myopia is diagnosed, optical correction with spectacles or contact lenses is recommended. In cases of rapidly progressing myopia, orthokeratology (corneal reshaping) lenses may be used effectively to slow myopia progression and prevent high myopia or pathological myopia-related fundus diseases.

Astigmatism can be managed through optical correction (e.g., cylindrical lenses) or surgical intervention. Regular (regular) astigmatism is commonly corrected using cylindrical lenses: convex lenses are prescribed for hyperopic astigmatism, while concave lenses are used for myopic astigmatism. Prior to prescribing cylindrical spectacles, a thorough retinal examination and refraction assessment are mandatory.

In daily life, patients are advised to include more foods rich in vitamins C and A in all three meals—such as carrots and sweet potatoes (vegetables), and kiwifruit and peaches (fruits). We hope this information is helpful to you.
