Introduction
When tiny, densely packed blisters suddenly appear between the fingers and cause intense itching, this indicates excessive internal dampness. Excess dampness typically arises from two main causes. The first is prolonged exposure to hot, humid environments, which impairs normal sweating from the fingers and leads to a specific type of eczema known as dyshidrotic eczema (or pompholyx).

Excessive dampness in the body can cause bumps or nodules on the fingertips. This condition arises from two main factors: (1) environmental factors and (2) lifestyle factors. Details are as follows:

1. Environmental factors: Prolonged exposure to hot, humid environments impairs normal sweat secretion from the fingertips, leading to a specific type of eczema known as dyshidrotic eczema (or pompholyx). In such cases, patients should avoid humid environments and, if necessary, seek pharmacological treatment.

2. Lifestyle factors: Hand eczema in some individuals is often associated with contact with certain substances during daily life or work—for example, housewives frequently exposed to detergents while washing clothes or cooking may develop allergic skin reactions, resulting in recurrent hand eczema. In these instances, it is essential to minimize exposure to external and local irritants—especially chemical detergents—and consider pharmacological treatment when necessary.

Daily Precautions

Maintain a light, bland diet. Red bean and coix seed soup is particularly beneficial for resolving dampness. Other recommended foods include oats, goji berries, buckwheat, purslane, Chinese yam, hyacinth bean, coix seed, pumpkin seeds, foxnut (Euryale ferox), and red beans. Drink plenty of warm water and consume ample fresh vegetables and fruits. Avoid raw, cold, greasy, or spicy foods. Engage in appropriate outdoor physical activity, maintain a positive mood, ensure adequate rest, and prioritize quality sleep.
