Hyperthyroidism is primarily characterized by elevated T3 and T4 levels alongside suppressed TSH levels.

Low thyroid function test results in patients with hyperthyroidism are often related to the dosage of antithyroid medications—either indicating inadequate control of the hyperthyroid condition or the development of hypothyroidism. Common laboratory markers for hyperthyroidism include serum thyroid hormones (T3 and T4) and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH). Hyperthyroidism is typically characterized by elevated T3 and T4 levels alongside suppressed TSH levels.

Treatment options for hyperthyroidism include pharmacotherapy and surgical intervention. Low thyroid function test results during treatment may arise due to the following reasons:

If TSH remains suppressed, it suggests inadequate control of hyperthyroidism, likely due to an insufficient dose of antithyroid medication—requiring dose escalation.
