Introduction
There are numerous factors contributing to plantar pain, such as prolonged standing or improper gait during work. If pes planus (flat feet) is present, individuals should wear supportive footwear or use arch-supporting insoles. For middle-aged and elderly patients with foot pain, maintaining proper forefoot alignment is essential to prevent chronic injury to the transverse tarsal ligament.

There are numerous factors contributing to plantar pain, such as prolonged standing or walking with improper posture during work. If plantar pain arises from fatigue, rest and relaxation are typically the primary measures—unnecessary physical activity should be minimized.

Footwear should not be excessively thick or rigid; instead, shoes should be comfortable and well-fitted to the individual’s feet. It is also important to reduce overall bodily load. Soaking the feet in warm water before bedtime is recommended to improve peripheral circulation and alleviate symptoms. Topical application of medicated ointments may help stimulate nerve endings on the soles, dilate blood vessels, enhance local blood flow, improve nutrient supply to surrounding tissues, and achieve anti-inflammatory, decongestive, and analgesic effects. Attention should also be paid to gait mechanics.

Plantar pain frequently results from improper walking posture. In cases of pes planus (collapsed arches), individuals should wear supportive footwear or use arch-supporting insoles or orthotic devices. For middle-aged and elderly patients experiencing foot pain, maintaining proper forefoot alignment is essential to prevent chronic injury to the transverse tarsal ligament. Such patients should also wear appropriately structured, firm-soled shoes.
