Can Solidago decurrens spray be used for rhinitis?

The full name of “Yi Zhi Huang Hua” spray is Compound Solidago Decoction Spray. It can be sprayed into the oral or nasal cavity, but it is not indicated for the treatment of rhinitis.

Compound Solidago Decoction Spray is primarily used to treat upper respiratory tract infections and acute or chronic pharyngitis. Although it may be administered intranasally, it has no established therapeutic efficacy for rhinitis.

The principal active ingredient of Compound Solidago Decoction Spray is Solidago decurrens, which exerts heat-clearing and detoxifying effects, dispels wind-heat, and soothes the throat. It is mainly indicated for symptoms such as oral ulcers, gingival swelling and pain, halitosis, and unpleasant oral odor.

Rhinitis is primarily managed with pharmacotherapy. Physiological saline nasal sprays may be used to cleanse the nasal mucosa; alternatively, a mild saline solution may be employed for routine nasal irrigation.
