Introduction
Diammonium Glycyrrhizinate Enteric-Coated Capsules: Mechanism and Efficacy Diammonium glycyrrhizinate exerts hepatoprotective effects by reducing the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and lipid peroxidation products in the body. It demonstrates potent anti-inflammatory activity, stabilizes hepatocyte membranes, and improves liver function. Clinically, it is primarily indicated for chronic persistent hepatitis and chronic active hepatitis accompanied by elevated alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels.

Diammonium Glycyrrhizinate Enteric-Coated Capsules are indicated for the treatment of acute and chronic hepatitis accompanied by elevated alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels. These enteric-coated capsules, extracted from licorice root, are clinically used primarily for chronic persistent hepatitis and chronic active hepatitis associated with elevated ALT levels. Below is an overview of the pharmacological actions and therapeutic effects of diammonium glycyrrhizinate enteric-coated capsules.

Pharmacological Actions and Therapeutic Effects of Diammonium Glycyrrhizinate Enteric-Coated Capsules

Diammonium glycyrrhizinate is absorbed in the colon as glycyrrhetinic acid and exerts hepatoprotective effects primarily via antioxidant mechanisms—reducing the generation of reactive oxygen species and lipid peroxidation products, thereby protecting hepatocytes. It possesses potent anti-inflammatory properties, stabilizes hepatocyte membranes, and improves liver function. Clinically, it is mainly used for chronic persistent hepatitis and chronic active hepatitis associated with elevated ALT levels.

Precautions for Diammonium Glycyrrhizinate Enteric-Coated Capsules

1. Adverse Reactions

During treatment, patients may experience loss of appetite, urticaria, dry mouth, or peripheral edema. The medication may also cause hypokalemia and hypernatremia; therefore, serum potassium and sodium levels should be monitored regularly during prolonged therapy. Additionally, diammonium glycyrrhizinate enteric-coated capsules may induce adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular effects, including chest tightness, dizziness, and elevated blood pressure.

2. Contraindications

Contraindicated in patients with severe hypokalemia, hypernatremia, or decompensated heart or renal failure. Not recommended for use during pregnancy. Safety and dosing in neonates and infants have not been established; therefore, use in this population is currently not advised.

The above outlines the pharmacological actions and therapeutic effects of diammonium glycyrrhizinate enteric-coated capsules. These capsules exhibit strong anti-inflammatory activity, protect hepatocyte membranes, and improve liver function. They are clinically indicated primarily for chronic persistent hepatitis and chronic active hepatitis associated with elevated ALT levels. Importantly, they must be used strictly under medical supervision; self-medication is prohibited. We hope this information is helpful to you.
