What Causes Breast Diseases?
Excessive introversion and frequent internalization of anger may contribute to breast disorders. But how do such breast disorders develop?
What Causes Breast Disorders?
The etiology of breast disorders can be explained from both traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and Western medical perspectives. From the standpoint of modern medicine, the development of breast disorders is closely associated with fluctuations in estrogen levels in the body. Whether it is simple mammary gland hyperplasia, benign breast tumors, or even breast cancer, hormonal imbalances—particularly involving estrogen—are critically involved. Excessive conversion of other steroid hormones and heightened sensitivity of the body to estrogen also play significant roles. From a TCM perspective, breast disorders are closely linked to the liver, spleen, stomach, and kidneys. According to TCM meridian theory, the breast lies along the pathway of the Liver Meridian; the liver, in turn, is highly susceptible to emotional influences. When Liver Qi becomes weakened or stagnant, it may overact upon the Spleen. Since the Spleen governs blood containment and serves as the source for the generation of Qi and blood, any dysfunction of the Spleen disrupts the production and circulation of Qi and blood throughout the body, thereby exacerbating Liver Qi stagnation. Consequently, breast disorders are most closely related to the functional states of the Liver, Spleen, Stomach, and Kidneys.

Daily health maintenance for mammary gland hyperplasia:
1. Maintain regular daily routines, balance work and rest, and ensure smooth bowel movements.
2. Marry and bear children at appropriate ages, breastfeed actively, avoid trauma to the breasts, and use estrogen-containing medications, foods, and cosmetic products with caution.
3. Promptly treat gynecological conditions such as menstrual irregularities and other endocrine disorders.

If you experience symptoms suggestive of breast disease, seek timely medical evaluation and treatment. We hope this article has been helpful to you. Wishing you good health and a joyful life!
