Introduction
Ultrasonic nebulizer therapy helps dilute pharyngeal mucus, facilitating the clearance of viscous sputum. To use an ultrasonic nebulizer, first add 30–50 mL of normal saline and medication to the nebulizer chamber, then connect the device to a power source and allow it to preheat for 3–5 minutes. The patient places the mouthpiece in their mouth and undergoes treatment for 15–20 minutes before discontinuing.

If sputum becomes thick and difficult to expectorate, ultrasonic nebulization therapy may be administered under medical supervision to help thin secretions in the pharynx and facilitate the removal of viscous mucus. The specific procedure is as follows:

1. Thirty minutes prior to treatment, patients should avoid vigorous physical activity and rest quietly in a seated or semi-recumbent position.

2. The physician adds 30–50 mL of normal saline and prescribed medication into the nebulizer cup.

3. Connect the nebulizer to the power source and allow it to preheat and dilute the solution for 3–5 minutes.

4. After the physician adjusts the airflow rate, the patient places the mouthpiece in their mouth and performs slow, deep breathing for 15–20 minutes.

5. Upon completion of treatment, the physician switches off the device, after which the patient may leave.
