Introduction
Early pregnancy can typically be self-tested using a home pregnancy test strip. In the absence of such test strips, pregnancy may be assessed based on menstrual cycle changes, early pregnancy symptoms, measurement of serum human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) levels, and gynecological ultrasound examination. Confirmation of pregnancy, however, relies definitively on serum hCG testing and gynecological ultrasound.

Early pregnancy is typically detected using a home pregnancy test (urine test strip). However, in the absence of such test strips, pregnancy can be assessed through the following methods:

1. Menstrual cycle observation: If a woman normally has regular menstrual cycles, she may suspect pregnancy if her period is delayed by more than 10 days.

2. Early pregnancy symptoms: Pregnancy may be indicated by early pregnancy symptoms—such as nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and fatigue—which commonly appear around 40 days after the last menstrual period.

3. Serum hCG testing: A blood test performed at a hospital to measure human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) levels can confirm pregnancy.

4. Gynecological ultrasound examination: Visualization of an intrauterine gestational sac on ultrasound provides definitive confirmation of pregnancy.
