Mammography and color Doppler ultrasound are not directly comparable, as they emphasize different diagnostic features. Mammography excels at detecting microcalcifications within breast nodules, whereas color Doppler ultrasound assesses nodule vascularity and the height-to-width ratio. These modalities are often complementary, and clinical decisions—including whether to proceed with surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or other treatments—are made based on integrated findings. For benign lesions, surgical excision may be performed to prevent recurrence; for malignant tumors, comprehensive treatment strategies are required.

Mammography is relatively well-suited for radiographic imaging of soft tissues.
