Introduction
Post-Removal Care for Nasal Implant (Silicone):
The surgical removal of a nasal silicone implant typically takes approximately 10 minutes. After removal of the foreign material, it is recommended to receive intravenous antibiotics for one day. For the following 2–3 days postoperatively, oral antibiotics—such as cephalosporins or amoxicillin—may be prescribed. Clean the incision site daily with sterile eye drops or normal saline to promote wound healing.
When silicone nasal implants begin to descend, cause nasal tip perforation or deviation, or lead to infection and swelling, timely removal is required. The silicone nasal implant removal procedure typically takes only about 10 minutes and is relatively straightforward. However, patients must strictly adhere to postoperative precautions to prevent complications from worsening.
After removal of the foreign material, we recommend intravenous fluid therapy for one day, along with one day of intravenous antibiotics. Oral antibiotics—such as cephalosporins or amoxicillin—may be prescribed for 2–3 days postoperatively. Sutures are typically removed 5–7 days after surgery.
Patients should clean the surgical incision daily using eye drops or normal saline. This promotes wound healing and helps minimize discomfort during suture removal.
