How to Remove Stretch Marks
In daily life, most women develop stretch marks during pregnancy. So, how can stretch marks be removed?
How to Remove Stretch Marks
Stretch marks (striae gravidarum) refer to linear scars that form on the abdominal skin during pregnancy as the fetus grows and the skin stretches excessively, causing underlying connective tissue fibers to tear. Fundamentally, they are a type of scar tissue. After delivery, these scars may gradually fade and become less noticeable, but they will not disappear entirely. The development of stretch marks is highly individual and closely related to one’s constitutional and genetic factors: some individuals’ skin structure makes them naturally resistant to stretch marks, whereas others are predisposed to developing them—and once formed, these marks are permanent. Postpartum abdominal wrinkles and skin laxity can be addressed through cosmetic procedures such as abdominoplasty.

Abdominoplasty is indicated for cases of significant abdominal skin laxity and wrinkling. By excising excess skin—much like three-dimensional tailoring—the procedure can effectively reduce or eliminate wrinkles. However, it cannot remove stretch marks completely. Since stretch marks typically extend from the pubic symphysis to the umbilicus, standard abdominoplasty only removes skin below the navel; more extensive cases may require additional surgical intervention.

During pregnancy, applying olive oil in moderation and performing gentle massage may help reduce the likelihood or severity of stretch mark formation. After childbirth, laser therapy is another option; multiple treatment sessions may help improve the appearance of existing stretch marks. We hope this information has been helpful.
