Introduction
Myocarditis can be definitively diagnosed based on its etiology and the characteristic cardiac-related clinical symptoms and signs. Histopathological evidence—primarily from endomyocardial biopsy—is required for diagnosis. However, due to its limited therapeutic guidance value and associated procedural risks, endomyocardial biopsy is not routinely performed in current clinical practice. In many cases, diagnosing myocarditis remains challenging.

If myocarditis is mild, it can resolve completely after treatment, leaving no residual signs or symptoms. However, if left untreated, myocarditis can become extremely severe, causing significant harm to the body and increasing the risk of heart failure and arrhythmias. So how is myocarditis diagnosed?

How Is Myocarditis Diagnosed?

Diagnosis of myocarditis relies on identifying its underlying cause, as well as characteristic clinical symptoms and physical signs related to cardiac involvement. Definitive diagnosis requires histopathological evidence—primarily from endomyocardial biopsy. However, due to its limited impact on guiding treatment decisions and associated procedural risks, endomyocardial biopsy is not routinely performed in current clinical practice. In many cases, diagnosing myocarditis remains challenging—for instance, when viral infection is clinically subtle or when cardiac biomarkers of myocardial necrosis remain normal. Even in the presence of overt heart failure or arrhythmias indicating significant myocardial damage, establishing a definitive diagnosis of myocarditis may be difficult.

Excessive physical exertion can easily trigger myocarditis and other myocardial disorders; therefore, ensuring adequate rest is essential for effective prevention. It is recommended to avoid prolonged late-night work, refrain from consistently engaging in physically demanding labor, and minimize carrying heavy loads—thereby preventing increased metabolic burden on the myocardium.

In daily life, maintain regular, balanced eating habits. Avoid spicy and irritating foods, overeating, binge eating, and staying up late. We hope this information is helpful to you.
