Introduction
Lansoprazole enteric-coated tablets generally do not interact with alcohol. However, patients taking this medication typically already have gastric mucosal injury. Although alcohol consumption may irritate the gastric mucosa in such patients, taking lansoprazole enteric-coated tablets before drinking can suppress gastric acid secretion, thereby reducing gastric acid–induced irritation to the gastric mucosa and providing a protective effect. Therefore, it is generally considered safe to consume alcohol after taking lansoprazole enteric-coated tablets.

Generally, it is acceptable to consume alcohol after taking lansoprazole enteric-coated tablets.

Lansoprazole enteric-coated tablets typically do not interact with alcohol. Clinically, they are used to treat gastrointestinal disorders such as duodenal ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and gastric ulcers—conditions often associated with gastric mucosal injury. Although alcohol consumption may irritate the gastric mucosa in such patients, mild irritation might cause mucosal congestion and edema; heavier alcohol intake could lead to mucosal erosion or bleeding. However, if lansoprazole enteric-coated tablets are taken prior to alcohol consumption, they can suppress gastric acid secretion and thereby reduce acid-induced irritation to the gastric mucosa, offering a certain degree of mucosal protection. Therefore, moderate alcohol consumption is generally permissible after taking lansoprazole enteric-coated tablets.

Lansoprazole enteric-coated tablets are usually recommended to be taken on an empty stomach—ideally 30 minutes before a meal—to optimize therapeutic efficacy. Additionally, the tablet should be swallowed whole with water; chewing or crushing it must be avoided.
