Introduction
Aphthous ulcers result from the combined effects of multiple factors, including local trauma, psychological stress, certain foods or medications, malnutrition, hormonal fluctuations, and deficiencies in vitamins or trace elements. In daily life, even minor lapses in oral care can trigger recurrence. Additionally, systemic diseases, genetic predisposition, immune dysfunction, and microbial factors play significant roles in the development and progression of aphthous ulcers.

Oral ulcers are common among many people. Some patients experience recurrent oral ulcers—after one ulcer heals, another appears every few days or weeks. Why do oral ulcers recur so frequently?

Recurrent Oral Ulcers

Oral ulcers result from a combination of factors, including local trauma, psychological stress, certain foods or medications, nutritional deficiencies, hormonal fluctuations, and deficiencies in vitamins or trace elements. In daily life, minor lapses in oral hygiene may trigger recurrence. Systemic diseases, genetic predisposition, immune dysfunction, and microbial factors also play significant roles in the development and recurrence of oral ulcers. Deficiencies in trace elements such as zinc, iron, folic acid, and vitamin B12, as well as general malnutrition, can impair immune function and increase susceptibility to oral ulcers.

Bacteria such as Streptococcus and Helicobacter pylori are closely associated with oral ulcers, which often signal an underlying systemic disease. Aloe vera possesses anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties; applying it directly to the affected area not only moisturizes but also promotes mucosal healing. Remember to rinse your mouth after meals—using plain water or a mild saline solution is effective for oral cleansing. Maintain regular sleep patterns (going to bed early and waking up early), engage in regular physical activity to boost immunity, avoid greasy foods, and ensure a balanced, nutritious diet—these are all essential long-term strategies for preventing recurrent oral ulcers.

Therefore, individuals experiencing oral ulcers should pay close attention to these factors. If symptoms are severe, prompt medical consultation is advised, and treatment should be undertaken under a physician’s guidance. We hope this article has been helpful to you!
