Introduction
When the body’s resistance is weakened, various viruses and bacteria can invade. At such times, the tonsils may become inflamed. Therefore, it is important to get adequate rest, avoid overworking—which can trigger tonsillitis—and engage in regular physical exercise to strengthen one’s immune system. In early summer, large temperature fluctuations occur between day and night: days are hot, while nights are cold. During this period, people often neglect proper warmth protection, and their body’s thermoregulatory system may fail to respond promptly.

The tonsils remain critically important to the human body, helping defend the mouth and nose against invading bacteria and viruses. However, due to their unique anatomical location, the tonsils are also more susceptible to external pathogens. So, what causes tonsillitis?

  Causes of Tonsillitis

When the body’s immune resistance is weakened, various viruses and bacteria can invade. This often triggers inflammation of the tonsils. Therefore, it is essential to get adequate rest, avoid overwork—which may precipitate tonsillitis—and engage in regular physical exercise to strengthen overall immunity. In early summer, large temperature fluctuations between day and night—hot days followed by cold nights—can compromise the body’s thermoregulation. If individuals fail to dress appropriately for warmth, their tonsils may become inflamed. Patients with chronic tonsillitis should especially prioritize staying warm and avoiding cold exposure or upper respiratory infections.

For symptom relief in tonsillitis, patients are advised to first visit the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at a hospital for a routine blood test to assess whether white blood cell counts are elevated. If leukocytosis is present, oral penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics may be prescribed. Alternatively, Pudilan Anti-inflammatory Oral Liquid may be administered. This herbal preparation exerts heat-clearing and detoxifying effects. During illness, patients should maintain strict bed rest, consume ample fluids and soft or liquid foods, increase water intake, ensure adequate nutrition, and maintain regular bowel movements. For severe sore throat or high fever, antipyretic and analgesic medications may be used. As tonsillitis is contagious, affected individuals should be appropriately isolated.

In daily life, it is recommended to consume abundant fruits and vegetables to supplement vitamins, maintain a balanced schedule of work and rest, and cultivate healthy lifestyle habits. We hope this information proves helpful to you.
