Introduction
Sudden tinnitus may result from intense external stimuli, such as explosions or loud noise exposure. In middle-aged women undergoing menopause, sudden tinnitus may stem from endocrine imbalances, leading to systemic dysregulation and decreased immunity, thereby triggering tinnitus. It may also signal underlying pathological conditions, such as hypertension, diabetes, or anemia. Among physical causes, noise exposure is the most common.

Sometimes, while engaged in certain activities, we suddenly experience vertigo—feeling as though the room is spinning—and simultaneously develop a sudden onset of tinnitus (ringing or buzzing in the ears). What causes this abrupt tinnitus?

What Causes Sudden-Onset Tinnitus?

Sudden tinnitus may result from intense external stimuli such as explosions or loud noise exposure.

Individuals who live or work in excessively noisy environments—including tractor and automobile drivers, traffic police officers, discotheque staff, and operators of heavy machinery—are at high risk. Prolonged exposure to loud noise often damages the auditory nerve within the inner ear, significantly increasing the likelihood of developing tinnitus. Similarly, severe head trauma resulting from accidents can also injure the inner ear nerve, causing tinnitus and potentially more serious hearing disorders.

When tinnitus occurs, it is essential to take appropriate precautions. Pay attention to diet—opt for light, non-irritating meals and avoid spicy or stimulating foods. Increase intake of fruits and vegetables, drink plenty of water, ensure adequate rest, maintain healthy lifestyle habits, and engage regularly in physical exercise to enhance overall immunity.
