Introduction
Patients with pulmonary tuberculosis should avoid consuming seafood (e.g., sea fish), eggplants, spicy foods, and other highly stimulating foods. The etiology of tuberculosis includes primary complex and bronchial lymph node tuberculosis, which typically occur in children or adolescents. Primary complex and bronchial lymph node tuberculosis are often difficult to distinguish clinically; however, characteristic findings may unexpectedly appear on chest X-ray—particularly when *Mycobacterium tuberculosis* causes inflammatory lesions and caseous necrosis in the lungs.

Pulmonary tuberculosis is a relatively common form of tuberculosis, caused by infection with *Mycobacterium tuberculosis* when the body’s immune resistance is weakened. This disease is moderately contagious; if left untreated or improperly managed, it can endanger both the patient’s own life and health and pose risks to those in close contact.

What Should Patients with Pulmonary Tuberculosis Avoid Eating?

Patients with pulmonary tuberculosis should avoid sea fish, eggplants, and foods that are spicy or highly stimulating. The etiology of tuberculosis includes primary complex and bronchial lymph node tuberculosis—conditions typically seen in children and adolescents. Distinguishing between primary complex and bronchial lymph node tuberculosis can be challenging clinically; however, characteristic findings may emerge on chest X-ray. When *Mycobacterium tuberculosis* causes inflammatory lesions and caseous necrosis in the lungs, the infection may spread from the hilar lymph nodes, leading to lymphadenopathy and subsequent development of active tuberculosis.

Patients with pulmonary tuberculosis should consume light, bland, and easily digestible foods. They must strictly avoid spicy and irritating foods. Sea fish should be avoided entirely. Additionally, organ meats (e.g., liver, kidneys) and beer should also be excluded from the diet. Eggplant is contraindicated for patients with pulmonary tuberculosis, as it may trigger allergic reactions of varying severity—including facial flushing, pruritus, generalized erythematous rash, and chest tightness—all of which can significantly compromise health. Therefore, eggplant must be strictly avoided. Milk should also be avoided, as it may interfere with drug absorption and reduce therapeutic drug concentrations.

In daily life, patients should maintain disciplined dietary habits—avoiding spicy and irritating foods, refraining from overeating or binge eating, and ensuring adequate rest by avoiding late-night activities. We hope this information proves helpful.
