What Does the Uterus Look Like?
The uterus is a female internal reproductive organ, primarily composed of the uterine body and the cervix. Its main functions include conception and menstruation. But what does the uterus look like?
What Does the Uterus Look Like?
A normal uterus is typically pear-shaped and inverted, situated centrally within the pelvic cavity, with the fallopian tubes and ovaries located on either side. The size of the uterus changes with age. The cervix—the lower portion of the uterus—connects superiorly to the uterine body and extends inferiorly into the vaginal canal. The tissue above the vaginal fornix is commonly referred to as the supravaginal portion of the cervix. The central cavity of the cervix is slightly flattened and spindle-shaped in the anteroposterior direction; it communicates with the uterine cavity via the internal os of the cervix and opens into the vagina through the external os of the cervix.

As age progresses, significant hormonal fluctuations occur, potentially leading to thickened mucus accumulation within the uterine cavity—this can severely impede sperm motility. Such impairment may adversely affect future fertility. In such cases, prompt consultation with a gynecological specialist is essential for further evaluation—including assessment for cervical contact bleeding and pelvic lymph node involvement—followed by physician-guided treatment options such as cryotherapy or laser therapy to alleviate symptoms.

In daily life, maintain a balanced diet—avoid spicy, irritating foods and overeating. Also avoid staying up late. We hope this information is helpful to you.
