Introduction
Pulmonary tuberculosis develops when the body’s immune system is weakened—for example, due to malnutrition, excessive fatigue, or underlying conditions such as diabetes, bronchiectasis, or silicosis. After inhaling indoor dust containing *Mycobacterium tuberculosis*, the bacteria can infect lung tissue and cause tuberculosis. Individuals in close contact with pulmonary tuberculosis patients may also become infected by inhaling droplets expelled by these patients that contain *Mycobacterium tuberculosis*.

Pulmonary tuberculosis is a serious and contagious disease. In general, there are many causes of tuberculosis. Common risk factors for contracting tuberculosis are associated with age and gender, as well as exposure to infectious sources and routes of transmission; patients with hepatitis B are also at increased risk for developing tuberculosis. So how does pulmonary tuberculosis develop?

  How Does Pulmonary Tuberculosis Develop?

Pulmonary tuberculosis develops when the body’s immune defenses are weakened—for example, due to malnutrition, excessive physical or mental exertion, or underlying conditions such as diabetes mellitus, bronchiectasis, or silicosis. Upon inhaling indoor dust containing Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacteria can infect lung tissue and cause tuberculosis. Close contact with individuals who have active pulmonary tuberculosis also poses a risk: when infected persons cough, sneeze, or speak loudly, they expel infectious droplets containing M. tuberculosis into the air, which others may then inhale—this is the most common mode of transmission. M. tuberculosis is widely distributed in nature and indoor environments and can survive for extended periods in dark, damp indoor settings.

Respiratory secretions from patients with pulmonary tuberculosis may contain Mycobacterium tuberculosis. These bacteria-laden secretions can be expelled into the air via coughing, sneezing, or speaking loudly. Tuberculosis is a chronic respiratory infectious disease caused by M. tuberculosis invading the lungs.

In daily life, maintain regular, balanced meals; avoid spicy, irritating foods and overeating; and refrain from staying up late. We hope this information is helpful to you.
