Introduction
Severe coronary artery atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis can lead to arterial aneurysm formation, such as aortic aneurysms, carotid artery aneurysms, and visceral artery aneurysms. Moreover, arterial aneurysm expansion may occur following arterial hardening; however, without timely treatment, complications—including thrombosis, arterial rupture, or compression by the aneurysm—may develop, underscoring the serious nature of this condition.

Arteriosclerosis itself is a systemic disease that predominantly affects elderly individuals and represents a clear manifestation of arterial aging. As arteriosclerosis progresses, arterial stenosis—or even complete arterial occlusion—may develop. Whether it manifests as arterial narrowing or tumor-like dilation, the ultimate consequences are generally severe. So, how serious is coronary arteriosclerosis?

How Serious Is Coronary Arteriosclerosis?

Coronary arteriosclerosis is indeed serious. Atherosclerosis can lead to aneurysmal dilation—for example, aortic aneurysms, carotid aneurysms, and visceral artery aneurysms. Moreover, although aneurysmal dilation may occur following arterial hardening, without timely intervention, complications such as thrombosis, arterial rupture, or compression by the aneurysm may arise—indicating that this condition remains highly dangerous.

Patients with arteriosclerosis should first modify their lifestyle: adopt a low-salt, low-fat diet, limiting sodium chloride intake to less than 6.5 g per day. Intake of high-fat foods—including animal offal, egg yolks, and fatty meats—should be appropriately restricted. Instead, emphasize consumption of low-sugar vegetables and fruits. Additionally, smoking cessation, alcohol moderation, regular physical activity, increased caloric expenditure, and weight control are essential. On this foundation, active management of risk factors for arteriosclerosis—including hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and hyperlipidemia—is also critically important.

In daily life, maintain a disciplined diet—avoid spicy and irritating foods, refrain from binge eating, and prevent late-night sleep deprivation. We hope this response proves helpful to you.
