Introduction
Patients with hypotension may prepare soups that help tonify qi and nourish blood while improving blood pressure, such as goji berry and pork liver soup, black chicken soup, pork rib soup, beef soup, or lamb soup. When preparing these soups, ingredients with qi- and blood-tonifying properties—such as goji berries, peanuts, walnuts, ginseng, or codonopsis root—can be added. Additionally, slightly more salt may be included. If a patient’s blood pressure is excessively low, prompt medical treatment is required.

Buzhong Yiqi Decoction (a traditional Chinese herbal formula) demonstrates excellent therapeutic effects for hypotension. Patients may also regularly consume Codonopsis and beef soup or Chinese yam soup. Hypotension is often caused by irregular dietary habits. If left untreated over a prolonged period, hypotension can impair systemic blood circulation and significantly affect cardiovascular and cerebrovascular health.

What soups are beneficial for hypotension?

Patients with hypotension may prepare nourishing soups that invigorate Qi and replenish blood while helping to regulate blood pressure—such as Lycium barbarum (goji berry) and pork liver soup, black chicken soup, pork rib soup, beef soup, or lamb soup. When preparing these soups, ingredients such as goji berries, peanuts, walnuts, ginseng, or Codonopsis root—known for their Qi- and blood-tonifying properties—may be added. Slightly increasing the salt content may also be helpful. However, if blood pressure is severely low, prompt medical treatment is essential. Relying solely on soup consumption is unlikely to effectively alleviate hypotensive symptoms; therefore, incorporating moderate aerobic exercise into the treatment plan is also recommended.

Consuming high-protein foods and foods that nourish Qi and blood helps elevate blood pressure. Patients may drink meat-based broths enriched with goji berries and longan arils, or add collagen-rich donkey-hide gelatin (ejiao), all of which support healthy blood pressure elevation. Daily meals should be varied to ensure adequate nutrition. Soy-based products—including soy milk, tofu, and black beans—may be consumed more frequently.

In daily life, patients should maintain a positive mental outlook, actively cooperate with healthcare providers, take prescribed medications consistently and as directed, and adhere to appropriate self-care practices—thereby facilitating timely improvement in clinical condition. We hope this information proves helpful.
