Introduction
After vocal cord polyp surgery, patients should consume liquid or semi-liquid foods, such as soft noodles and millet porridge. They may also eat vitamin-rich fruits, such as apples and kiwifruit. If hoarseness occurs shortly after surgery, medications such as Pudilan Xiaoyan Tablets or Jinsheng Kaiyin Capsules may be used under a physician’s guidance. For reflux laryngopharyngitis, acid-suppressing medications to control gastric acid reflux are recommended.

After vocal cord polyp surgery, patients typically recover more quickly by consuming liquid or semi-liquid foods, fruits, and medications.

1. Liquid or Semi-Liquid Foods

Following vocal cord polyp surgery, the surgical site is usually fragile. Consuming dry, hard, or irritating foods may damage the wound. Therefore, it is advisable to consume liquid or semi-liquid foods—such as soft noodles or millet porridge—which are easier to swallow and thus promote wound healing.

2. Fruits

Patients may also consume vitamin-rich fruits, such as apples, kiwifruit, and pomelos. For harder fruits, juicing is recommended to avoid mechanical irritation of the pharyngeal mucosa, which could otherwise trigger pharyngitis.

3. Medications

If hoarseness occurs shortly after vocal cord polyp surgery, pharmacological intervention may be initiated under a physician’s guidance. Commonly prescribed medications include Pudilan Xiaoyan Tablets and Jinsheng Kaiyin Capsules. For patients with reflux laryngopharyngitis, anti-reflux medications—such as mosapride and omeprazole—may be used.
