What Should You Eat After Vocal Cord Polyp Surgery to Recover Quickly?
After vocal cord polyp surgery, patients typically recover more quickly by consuming liquid or semi-liquid foods, fruits, and medications.
1. Liquid or Semi-Liquid Foods
Following vocal cord polyp surgery, the surgical site is usually fragile. Consuming dry, hard, or irritating foods may damage the wound. Therefore, it is advisable to consume liquid or semi-liquid foods—such as soft noodles or millet porridge—which are easier to swallow and thus promote wound healing.
2. Fruits
Patients may also consume vitamin-rich fruits, such as apples, kiwifruit, and pomelos. For harder fruits, juicing is recommended to avoid mechanical irritation of the pharyngeal mucosa, which could otherwise trigger pharyngitis.
3. Medications
If hoarseness occurs shortly after vocal cord polyp surgery, pharmacological intervention may be initiated under a physician’s guidance. Commonly prescribed medications include Pudilan Xiaoyan Tablets and Jinsheng Kaiyin Capsules. For patients with reflux laryngopharyngitis, anti-reflux medications—such as mosapride and omeprazole—may be used.
