Introduction
For women with gestational diabetes, staple foods generally include low-glycemic-index foods, high-fiber foods, and protein-rich foods. Low-glycemic-index foods include corn, brown rice, oats, milk, and soy milk, as well as vegetables and fruits such as cucumber, pear, and apple. High-fiber foods include radish, onion, spinach, and celery. Protein-rich foods include beef, pork, and sesame seeds.

For women with gestational diabetes, staple foods should generally be low-glycemic, high-fiber, and protein-rich.

1. Low-Glycemic Foods

Women with gestational diabetes may choose low-glycemic staple foods such as corn, brown rice, oats, milk, or soy milk. These foods are mild in flavor, easily digestible, relatively low in starch, and rich in dietary fiber—helping to stabilize blood glucose levels. Additionally, low-glycemic vegetables and fruits—such as tomatoes, cucumbers, pears, and apples—may also be included.

2. High-Fiber Foods

Patients with gestational diabetes can regularly consume high-fiber vegetables such as radishes, onions, spinach, and celery. These vegetables are naturally low in sugar, unlikely to cause blood glucose fluctuations, and support healthy intestinal function.

3. Protein-Rich Foods

Women with gestational hyperglycemia may also include protein-rich foods such as beef, pork, and sesame seeds. These help meet the body’s protein requirements and typically have minimal impact on blood glucose levels.
