The Simplest Method to Remove Tartar
Dental calculus—also known as tartar—is a hardened, calcified deposit that forms on tooth surfaces. It cannot be removed by regular toothbrushing alone. There is no single “simplest” method for removing dental calculus; however, effective removal can be achieved professionally at a dental clinic using ultrasonic scaling. The procedure typically involves the following steps:
1. Scaling: A dentist uses an ultrasonic scaler, which removes dental calculus and plaque from teeth through high-frequency vibrations.

2. Polishing: A specialized polishing handpiece, coated with polishing paste, rotates slowly over the tooth surface to eliminate minor surface irregularities and restore smoothness and shine.
3. Gum care: Minor gingival abrasions may occur during scaling; these can be treated with a specially formulated topical solution to promote gum healing and comfort.
Dental calculus formation is closely associated with poor oral hygiene. Therefore, in daily life, it is essential to brush teeth thoroughly after every meal and after dental procedures, to prevent food debris from accumulating in interdental spaces for prolonged periods—thereby minimizing calculus formation.
