Introduction
Decreased appetite in hot weather may be caused by a lower basal metabolic rate due to the heat, resulting in reduced caloric needs. It could also result from slowed gastrointestinal motility, which increases the feeling of fullness. Psychological factors such as high work pressure or changes in living environment may contribute as well. Abnormal liver function can also lead to poor appetite in hot weather, often caused by infections from bacteria, viruses, or parasites.

Decreased appetite due to hot weather may be caused by environmental factors, psychological factors, abnormal liver function, or other reasons.

1. Environmental Factors

Hot weather can lead to reduced appetite because high temperatures lower the body's basal metabolic rate, reducing the body's need for heat. After eating, the heat generated is absorbed by the body and then dissipated through sweat. Alternatively, excessively high temperatures may suppress the secretion of digestive enzymes in the stomach, leading to slower gastrointestinal digestion and motility, which increases the feeling of fullness and consequently reduces appetite.

2. Psychological Factors

High work pressure or changes in living environment may cause low mood, tension, anxiety, or even depression, which can affect gastrointestinal motility and sensory functions, resulting in decreased appetite.

3. Abnormal Liver Function

Impaired liver function can also contribute to reduced appetite during hot weather. This is usually caused by infections from bacteria, viruses, or parasites, and may be accompanied by discomforts such as nausea and vomiting.
