Introduction
For hyperthyroidism accompanied by loose stools, antithyroid medications such as methimazole, propylthiouracil, and methylthiouracil may be used per physician’s instructions to control hyperthyroid symptoms. It is also recommended to use agents that regulate intestinal flora; commonly prescribed options include lactacin tablets and quadruple-strain bifidobacterium live bacterial tablets. Additionally, subtotal or total thyroidectomy may be performed to reduce thyroid hormone production and thereby control hyperthyroid symptoms.

For hyperthyroidism with loose stools, treatment options include taking antithyroid medications under a doctor's guidance, using drugs that regulate intestinal flora, or undergoing surgical treatment.

1. Antithyroid medications

Patients may follow medical advice to use antithyroid drugs to treat hyperthyroidism. Commonly used medications include methimazole, propylthiouracil, and methylthiouracil, which inhibit the synthesis of thyroid hormones and help control loose stool symptoms.

2. Medications to regulate intestinal flora

Hyperthyroidism can cause intestinal flora imbalance. It is recommended to use medications that restore gut microbiota balance, such as lactase tablets and bifidobacterium quadruple viable bacteria tablets.

3. Surgical treatment

If the above treatments are ineffective in improving loose stools, subtotal or total thyroidectomy may be considered. These procedures reduce thyroid hormone production and thereby control symptoms of hyperthyroidism.

Daily dietary routines should be regular for patients with hyperthyroidism. Binge eating should be avoided, and spicy or irritating foods should be limited.
