Introduction
Elevated blood glucose caused by obesity can typically be rapidly reduced through dietary adjustments, increased physical activity, and antidiabetic medications. Dietary modifications include limiting intake of sugary foods and increasing consumption of whole grains, fresh fruits, and vegetables. Increased physical activity includes regular engagement in exercises such as running, ball sports, swimming, or hiking. Antidiabetic medications include metformin, pioglitazone, and insulin, among others.

High blood glucose caused by obesity can typically be lowered quickly through dietary adjustments, increased physical activity, and/or antihyperglycemic medications.

1. Dietary Adjustment

Consuming excessive amounts of high-calorie, high-sugar, high-fat, or overly greasy foods—especially without dietary awareness—can lead to fat accumulation. Excess body fat contributes to obesity and increases the risk of hyperglycemia. Blood glucose levels can be effectively controlled through dietary modification. It is recommended to limit intake of sugary foods and reduce consumption of high-fat, high-calorie foods. Additionally, incorporating more whole grains—such as oatmeal and brown rice—as well as fresh fruits and vegetables into the diet is beneficial.

2. Increasing Physical Activity

Individuals with obesity-related hyperglycemia should increase their physical activity within their individual tolerance limits. Regular engagement in activities such as running, ball sports, swimming, or hiking helps enhance metabolic rate, increase glucose utilization, improve obesity, and thereby alleviate hyperglycemia.

3. Antihyperglycemic Medications

If lifestyle modifications alone yield insufficient improvement in obesity-related hyperglycemia, patients may, under physician guidance, take oral antidiabetic agents—such as metformin or pioglitazone—or receive insulin injections to lower blood glucose levels.
