Introduction
Snoring in pregnant women may be caused by improper sleeping posture, weight gain during pregnancy, or narrowing of the upper airway. Generally, snoring during pregnancy does not affect the mother's health or fetal development. However, if a pregnant woman gains weight more rapidly, she should reasonably control her diet. When sleeping, it is advisable to choose an appropriate pillow and pillow height.

Snoring is a common phenomenon in daily life. When someone is extremely fatigued, they may begin snoring upon falling asleep. So, what causes snoring during pregnancy?

    What Causes Snoring During Pregnancy?

Snoring during pregnancy may result from improper sleeping posture, weight gain, or upper airway narrowing. Generally, snoring during pregnancy does not adversely affect maternal health or fetal development. However, if weight gain accelerates, dietary intake should be appropriately managed. While sleeping, selecting an appropriate pillow and optimal pillow height can help alleviate snoring. If a pregnant woman experiences symptoms such as apnea or wheezing alongside snoring, this may lead to fetal hypoxia, necessitating prompt medical evaluation to rule out underlying organic disease.

After becoming pregnant, attention should be paid to food hygiene, safety, and nutritional balance. Emphasize consumption of green, natural foods while limiting processed items containing excessive additives. For example, increase intake of leafy green vegetables, low-sugar fruits, and high-quality beef or lamb; reduce consumption of high-starch foods such as refined flour and rice. Avoid eating out whenever possible, as restaurant meals—though often delicious—typically contain excessive seasonings like salt and soy sauce. Excessive sodium intake during pregnancy may elevate blood pressure. Moreover, street food may pose hygiene risks and increase susceptibility to diarrhea. Spicy or excessively cold foods should also be avoided or consumed sparingly.

Pregnant women experiencing snoring should seek timely medical evaluation and treatment. We hope this information proves helpful.
