How much medicinal wine should be consumed daily?
It is generally recommended to consume 25–30 mL of tonic wine daily; excessive intake may cause “internal heat” (a traditional Chinese medicine concept referring to symptoms such as sore throat, constipation, or irritability).
Tonic wines typically contain a variety of traditional Chinese herbal medicines. They may help enhance immune function, alleviate pain associated with rheumatoid arthritis, nourish yin and strengthen yang, replenish essence and vital energy, relieve symptoms of kidney deficiency, and regulate endocrine function. Additionally, they may help improve menstrual irregularities and alleviate dysmenorrhea in women. Although tonic wines offer multiple health benefits, daily intake should be carefully controlled—ideally no more than 50 mL per day. Therefore, a daily dose of 25–30 mL is generally advised. Overconsumption in a single sitting may lead to “internal heat,” and since tonic wines contain alcohol, excessive intake may also result in alcohol intoxication or liver damage.
During the period of consuming tonic wine, individuals are also encouraged to engage in appropriate outdoor physical activity to promote overall fitness and boost immunity.
