How to Treat and Manage Cerebral Arteriosclerosis
Cerebral arterial sclerosis can be managed and maintained through medication and adjustments to diet and lifestyle, tailored to the individual patient’s condition.
1. Treatment
Since cerebral arterial sclerosis may predispose patients to thrombus formation, prompt medical consultation is generally recommended. Under physician guidance, antiplatelet agents—such as aspirin and clopidogrel—are commonly prescribed to prevent thrombosis. For patients with more advanced cerebral arterial sclerosis, lipid-lowering medications—including bezafibrate and simvastatin—may also be administered under medical supervision to improve the atherosclerotic condition.
2. Maintenance
During treatment for cerebral arterial sclerosis, proper maintenance is essential. Patients should undergo regular follow-up examinations at the hospital and maintain strict blood pressure control to prevent symptom progression. Additionally, lifestyle modifications are crucial: avoid staying up late, adopt a light, easily digestible, and nutritionally balanced diet, and refrain from consuming excessively spicy, stimulating, or greasy foods. Regular, moderate physical exercise is also recommended.
