Introduction
Generally, it is not advisable to drink milk tea while taking medication. Although milk tea contains protein, sugar, and trace elements that help replenish energy, it also contains caffeine and milk—both of which can readily interact with antibiotics such as oxytetracycline and tetracycline, thereby reducing drug efficacy. While consuming milk tea during medication may adversely affect patients, ingesting it approximately two hours after taking the medication typically poses minimal risk.

Generally, it is not advisable to drink milk tea when taking medication, as it may affect the drug's effectiveness. In some patients who are particularly sensitive, it could even lead to other adverse symptoms.

Milk tea contains certain amounts of protein, sugar, and trace elements that can provide necessary energy for the body. However, since tea is used in its preparation, milk tea also contains ingredients such as caffeine and theophylline. Moreover, the milk in milk tea can easily react with medications like oxytetracycline and tetracycline, forming insoluble complexes that reduce drug efficacy or even render the medication completely ineffective. Therefore, to avoid negative impacts on patients, drinking milk tea while taking medication is usually not recommended.

Although consuming milk tea with medication may have negative effects, if milk tea is consumed two hours after taking the medicine, the impact is generally minimal. In some cases, the theophylline in milk tea may help neutralize stomach acid and potentially enhance the therapeutic effect of the medication.
