Introduction
Diabetic patients generally should not consume bayberry wine. Bayberry wine contains alcohol, which can easily cause hypoglycemic symptoms in diabetic patients. For those currently undergoing insulin therapy, insulin injections typically lower blood glucose levels. The effects of alcohol consumption may be confused with insulin-related reactions, impairing the patient's judgment and increasing the risk of hypoglycemia.

Generally, individuals with diabetes should avoid consuming waxberry wine.

Waxberry wine contains alcohol, which can easily trigger hypoglycemia in people with diabetes. For those undergoing insulin therapy, insulin injections themselves often lower blood glucose levels; thus, the symptoms of alcohol-induced hypoglycemia may be mistaken for insulin-related effects, impairing the patient’s ability to recognize and respond appropriately—potentially leading to dangerous hypoglycemia and threatening life and health. Additionally, waxberry wine contains sugar, contributing to its sweet taste. Excessive consumption by diabetic patients may cause a significant rise in blood glucose levels, undermining glycemic control and exacerbating the condition. Therefore, waxberry wine is generally not recommended for individuals with diabetes.

People with diabetes must carefully manage their daily diet: alcohol intake should be minimized, and foods high in sugar or spicy/irritating ingredients—such as sweet cakes, pastries, chili peppers, and hotpot—should be consumed sparingly. Regular, moderate physical activity is also encouraged to improve overall physical fitness and support disease management.
