Introduction
Overweight individuals can also develop hypoglycemia, primarily due to poor dietary habits—such as frequent heavy alcohol consumption or excessive dieting. Additionally, inappropriate blood glucose-lowering measures—such as incorrect selection or excessive dosing of antidiabetic medications or insulin—along with prolonged physical labor or running without adequate rest and recovery, may lead to hypoglycemia.

Overweight individuals can also develop hypoglycemia. Hypoglycemia in obese people is usually caused by poor eating habits, improper blood sugar management, or excessive fatigue.

1. Poor eating habits

If an obese person has unhealthy dietary habits—such as frequently consuming large amounts of alcohol—the alcohol metabolized in the body turns into acetaldehyde, which enters the bloodstream and stimulates the pancreas, causing it to secrete excessive insulin, thereby lowering blood glucose levels and leading to hypoglycemia. Additionally, if obese individuals attempt weight loss improperly through extreme dieting, insufficient intake of exogenous glucose may result, which can also trigger hypoglycemia.

2. Improper blood sugar control

For obese individuals with diabetes, improper glucose-lowering treatment—such as taking incorrect types of antidiabetic medications or insulin, or using excessive dosages—can easily cause blood sugar fluctuations, leading to a drop in blood glucose and resulting in hypoglycemia.

3. Excessive fatigue

Obese individuals who engage in prolonged physical labor or running without adequate rest may become overly fatigued. This condition typically increases glucose utilization in the body, causing blood glucose levels to drop and potentially leading to hypoglycemia.
