Introduction
Endocrine imbalance generally affects sexual function, leading to its decline. In men, endocrine imbalance—particularly reduced secretion of androgens—may lower testosterone levels, resulting in diminished sexual function, erectile dysfunction, or decreased libido. In women, reduced estrogen levels may lead to amenorrhea or decreased libido.

Endocrine imbalance generally impairs sexual function.

The body’s endocrine hormones are closely linked to physiological functions and libido. In men, endocrine imbalance—particularly reduced secretion of androgens—may lead to decreased testosterone levels, resulting in diminished sexual function, erectile dysfunction, or reduced libido. In women, decreased estrogen levels may cause amenorrhea (absence of menstruation), diminished libido, and anovulation (failure to ovulate). Additionally, reduced levels of other endocrine hormones in women may lead to oligomenorrhea (scant menstrual flow) and anovulation.

Endocrine imbalance affects sexual function in both men and women. When such imbalance occurs, individuals should seek medical evaluation promptly. Treatment typically involves medications prescribed by a physician to regulate endocrine function—for example, glucocorticoids, thyroid hormone, mitotane, or ketoconazole. During treatment, adequate rest is essential.
