Introduction
Prolonged sleep followed by headache and nausea can initially be alleviated by engaging in aerobic activities outdoors—such as jogging or playing ball sports—and breathing fresh air to relieve discomfort. Alternatively, taking a warm shower upon waking can promote systemic blood circulation and help ease headache and nausea. If these measures fail to improve symptoms—or if symptoms worsen—oral analgesic medication (e.g., ibuprofen sustained-release capsules) should be taken only under a physician’s guidance.

Headaches and nausea caused by oversleeping can be relieved through moderate exercise, taking a hot shower, or taking medication.

1. Moderate Exercise

During sleep, breathing slows down. Excessive sleep, especially in a closed indoor environment, can lead to increased levels of carbon dioxide in the blood, resulting in dizziness and nausea. In such cases, engaging in aerobic activities outdoors—such as running or playing sports—can help by allowing you to breathe fresh air and alleviate these discomforts.

2. Taking a Hot Shower

During sleep, the body is in a fully relaxed state, with slower heart rate and blood circulation. Prolonged sleep may cause headaches due to cerebral hypoxia (lack of oxygen to the brain). Taking a hot shower upon waking can promote overall blood circulation and help relieve headaches and nausea.

3. Taking Medication

If the above methods do not significantly improve headache and nausea, or if the headache is severe, pain-relieving medications should be taken orally under a doctor's guidance, such as ibuprofen sustained-release capsules or indomethacin tablets, to alleviate symptoms.
