Introduction
If a mark is left after being bitten by your own dog, it is classified as level one exposure if there is no pain or skin breakage. It is considered level two exposure if there is minor skin damage. The appropriate response involves immediately seeking medical attention after cleaning and disinfecting the area. If there is minor skin injury, you may dress the wound before going to the hospital and receive a rabies vaccine. If there is no skin damage, you may apply erythromycin ointment as directed by a physician.

If a bite mark from your own dog remains on the skin, it is classified as level one exposure if there is no pain or skin breakage, and level two exposure if there is minor skin damage. The specific management methods are as follows:

1. Washing: The affected area should be rinsed under running water from a tap for 15–20 minutes, then washed with soap and water.

2. Disinfection: Use a cotton swab dipped in iodine solution (An'erdian) or hydrogen peroxide to disinfect the bitten area. Starting from the center of the bite, rotate clockwise and counterclockwise to perform circular disinfection twice. Ensure the disinfected area has a diameter greater than 5 cm.

3. Medical consultation: If there is minor skin damage, seek medical attention at a hospital after dressing the wound and receive rabies vaccination. If there is no skin damage, apply erythromycin ointment as directed by a physician to reduce inflammation, inhibit bacterial growth, and relieve pain.
