Introduction
Numbness in the right foot and swelling in the lower leg may be caused by nutritional deficiencies or lumbar spine disorders. In patients with diabetes, excessively high blood glucose levels can lead to demyelination changes in peripheral nerves, resulting in numbness in the left foot and lower leg swelling. Peripheral artery disease, caused by atherosclerosis leading to occlusion or narrowing of the lower limb blood vessels, is another potential cause of these symptoms.

Right foot numbness and leg swelling may be caused by nutritional deficiencies, lumbar spine disorders, peripheral neuropathy, or lower extremity arteriosclerosis obliterans.

1. Nutritional Deficiency

If a patient is a picky eater, has a biased diet, or consistently poor nutrition due to work-related reasons, leading to deficiency in calcium, potassium, and various other trace elements, this lack of nutrition may result in numbness in the right foot and leg swelling.

2. Lumbar Spine Disorders

When suffering from conditions affecting the lumbar spine, such as lumbar spinal stenosis or lumbar disc herniation, the sciatic nerve may become compressed, resulting in the aforementioned symptoms.

3. Peripheral Neuropathy

In patients with peripheral neuropathy, such as those with diabetes, elevated blood glucose levels can cause demyelination and other changes in the peripheral nerves, leading to numbness in the right foot and leg swelling. If not promptly controlled, this condition may progress to numbness in the extremities.

4. Lower Extremity Arteriosclerosis Obliterans

Arteriosclerosis obliterans of the lower limbs—caused by arterial hardening leading to narrowing or occlusion of blood vessels—is another potential cause of these symptoms.
