Introduction
After I-131 treatment, patients should avoid fruits with high iodine content, such as pineapples, oranges, bananas, persimmons, and grapes. Consuming these fruits may lead to endocrine disorders, resulting in secondary blood glucose imbalances or secondary metabolic syndromes, which can destabilize the condition. It may also cause thyroid tissue fibrosis, leading to prolonged illness and poor treatment response.

After I-131 treatment, patients should avoid fruits with relatively high iodine content.

Foods rich in iodine should be avoided after I-131 therapy, such as pineapples, oranges, bananas, persimmons, and grapes. Consuming these may lead to endocrine disorders, resulting in secondary blood glucose imbalances or secondary metabolic syndromes, which can destabilize the condition. It may also cause thyroid tissue hardening, leading to prolonged illness and poor treatment outcomes. Patients may instead consume low-iodine fruits such as grapefruits, watermelons, kiwifruits, tangerines, and apples, which help promote the excretion of iodine and provide essential nutrients for the body.

In addition to fruits, patients can also eat other low-iodine foods during daily life, such as kelp, seaweed, and shrimp. It is advisable to consume protein-rich foods like milk, eggs, and lean meat. Drinking plenty of water is also recommended to accelerate internal circulation. Furthermore, after undergoing I-131 treatment, patients should schedule regular hospital follow-ups to monitor thyroid function and closely track their recovery progress.
