Introduction
After facial nerve injury leading to facial paralysis, recovery usually begins gradually within one to two weeks and normal function typically returns within one to two months. However, if the facial nerve injury is severe, such as trauma-induced damage requiring surgical intervention for recovery, the healing process may take longer, possibly three months or more.

The time required for complete recovery from facial nerve injury and resulting facial paralysis depends on the severity of the condition.

Facial nerves originate from the central nervous system and extend to the face. Due to their long pathway, damage to motor neurons at any point along the facial nerve can lead to facial paralysis, such as from nerve palsy, infection, or trauma. After facial nerve injury and subsequent paralysis, recovery typically begins gradually within one to two weeks and normal function usually returns within one to two months. However, if the injury is severe—for example, trauma-induced facial nerve damage—surgical intervention may be necessary to restore nerve function, and full recovery could take three months or longer.

After developing facial paralysis due to nerve injury, patients should promptly seek medical evaluation to determine the underlying cause and receive targeted treatment. For instance, if inflammation or infection is responsible, corticosteroids may be prescribed under a doctor's supervision to promote recovery; commonly used medications include prednisone and prednisolone.
