What is the white layer on my scalp after washing my hair?
After washing the hair, a white layer appears on the scalp, which could be due to tinea capitis (scalp fungal infection), Malassezia (pityriasis) yeast infection of the scalp, increased sebum production, or other factors.
1. Tinea Capitis
Dandruff is generally considered to result from fungal infection. It is recommended to use ketoconazole shampoo. Maintain a light, easily digestible diet, consume more fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins, avoid spicy and irritating foods, and ensure adequate sleep.
2. Scalp Infection with Malassezia Yeast
Since hair is prone to dampness, it is recommended to clean the scalp with Hillson's solution, cut hair short, or take vitamin B complex and zinc gluconate to balance scalp nutrition. Maintain a light diet, avoid spicy and irritating foods, and refrain from using irritating personal care products. Ensure sufficient sleep and remain calm.
3. Increased Sebum Production
This is mostly caused by overactive sebaceous glands and hormonal imbalances. The condition may be triggered by certain foods, medications, or endocrine factors. Oral vitamin B2 and B6 are recommended to help suppress sebum secretion, and 3% boric acid powder can be applied externally to reduce dampness and moisture.
Pay attention to skin care and develop good daily habits.
