On the morning of the test, the patient should consume 75g of glucose dissolved in 300 mL of liquid within 5 minutes before 9 a.m. Blood samples are then taken to measure fasting blood glucose, one-hour post-glucose blood glucose, and two-hour post-glucose blood glucose. If any of the blood glucose readings exceed the normal thresholds, a diagnosis of gestational diabetes may be made.
