Introduction
The normal values for the OGTT (oral glucose tolerance test) are a fasting blood glucose level of 3.9 mmol/L to 6.1 mmol/L, a 2-hour postprandial blood glucose level below 7.8 mmol/L, and a peak blood glucose level not exceeding 10.0 mmol/L. The OGTT, also known as the glucose tolerance test, is a diagnostic test used to detect prediabetic conditions, representing blood glucose levels between those of healthy individuals and individuals with diabetes.

OGTT refers to the 75-gram oral glucose tolerance test. All pregnant women are required to undergo the OGTT during pregnancy. So, what are the normal values for OGTT?

Normal Values for OGTT

The normal values for the OGTT are a fasting blood glucose level of 3.8 mmol/L to 6.2 mmol/L, a 2-hour postprandial blood glucose level below 7.8 mmol/L, and a peak blood glucose level not exceeding 10.0 mmol/L. The OGTT, also known as the glucose tolerance test, is a diagnostic test used to detect early signs of prediabetes, enabling the identification of individuals with impaired glucose tolerance at an early stage between healthy populations and those with diabetes.

A venous fasting blood glucose level below 6.2 mmol/L and a 2-hour OGTT blood glucose level below 7.8 mmol/L indicate that the body's ability to regulate blood glucose after glucose intake is normal, classifying the individual as within the healthy range. When the venous fasting blood glucose reaches 7.0 mmol/L or the 2-hour OGTT blood glucose reaches 11.1 mmol/L, the body's ability to regulate blood glucose after meals may be impaired, indicating the presence of diabetes.

When the venous fasting blood glucose is between 6.2 and 7.0 mmol/L, and the 2-hour OGTT blood glucose is 7.8 mmol/L, the body's ability to regulate blood glucose after glucose intake remains unchanged, but fasting glucose regulation is clearly reduced—this condition is known as impaired fasting glucose.
