How many days after a natural childbirth tear can I take a shower?
After vaginal delivery, the optimal timing for bathing varies depending on the individual’s specific circumstances. With today’s improved living standards, women who have had an uncomplicated natural delivery may resume normal ambulation and take a shower as early as 24 hours postpartum.

However, if complications occurred during delivery—such as hypertension, postpartum hemorrhage, heavy vaginal bleeding, or other comorbidities—it is advisable to postpone bathing for several days. Conversely, if delivery proceeded smoothly without complications—aside from minor perineal lacerations—a shower may be taken safely 24 hours after delivery.

During the puerperium, showers—not tub baths—are strongly recommended. When bathing, ensure the environment is well-ventilated and maintain a comfortable room temperature—neither excessively hot nor cold.
Because maternal physical strength is generally diminished postpartum, it is ideal—whenever possible—to have a caregiver present during bathing to prevent falls or other adverse events resulting from dizziness or discomfort. If assistance is unavailable, a warm sponge bath is a safe alternative.
