Introduction
The number of days after which viral influenza is no longer contagious depends on the recovery process of the illness. As a person recovers from viral flu, their infectivity gradually decreases. Due to individual differences, recovery times vary from person to person, so the duration of contagion also differs and cannot be generalized. In most cases, it takes at least one week before the virus is no longer contagious. The highest infectivity occurs during the first 1 to 3 days after symptom onset.

Viral flu typically becomes non-contagious after several days, but the exact timing depends on recovery progress. As the body recovers from viral influenza, its contagiousness gradually decreases. Due to individual differences, recovery time varies from person to person, so the duration of infectivity cannot be generalized. For most people, the virus is no longer contagious after at least one week. The highest level of contagion occurs during the first three days after symptoms appear.

Viral flu is caused by viral infections. Currently, there are no specific antiviral drugs available in clinical practice, so treatment generally focuses on supportive care and symptom management.

1. General treatment

Patients should drink plenty of fluids, get adequate rest, eat light and easily digestible foods, and rely on their immune system to alleviate cold symptoms.

2. Symptomatic treatment

For fever reaching 38.5°C or higher, use analgesic and antipyretic medications such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen. For severe coughing or symptoms like dry throat and postnasal drip, medications such as pseudoephedrine may be used.

To prevent viral flu, wear a mask regularly to avoid spreading the virus to others. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when sneezing or blowing your nose to reduce viral transmission. Frequent handwashing, eating meals separately, using serving chopsticks, avoiding cross-infection, and engaging in moderate exercise to boost immunity are also recommended preventive measures.

If experiencing severe discomfort, it is advisable to seek timely medical attention and receive treatment under the guidance of a qualified physician.
