Introduction
After a finger is cut by a knife, different treatments may be applied depending on the severity of the injury. If the wound is large or deep, seek immediate medical attention for emergency care including disinfection, hemostasis, and stabilization. If the finger is accidentally severed, go to the hospital immediately for emergency treatment. For minor wounds, rinse thoroughly with running water, disinfect with hydrogen peroxide, and then dress the wound.

After a finger is cut by a knife, if the wound is large or deep, prompt medical attention is required for emergency treatment including hemostasis, disinfection, and immobilization with bandaging. Specific measures are as follows:

1. Disinfection: Clean the wound thoroughly by rinsing repeatedly with hydrogen peroxide, iodophor, and normal saline to remove debris and contaminants;

2. Compression bandaging for hemostasis: Use sterile gauze or towel to cover the wound, then wrap firmly with a bandage to apply pressure. Additionally, compress the digital arteries along both sides of the fingertip to control bleeding;

3. Proper immobilization: Immobilize the injured finger using bandages or a splint as needed;

4. Seek immediate medical care: Severe lacerations that result in damage or rupture of important tissues require urgent hospital treatment. Some tissues may need surgical repair to restore proper finger function.
