Introduction
A positive result for type A influenza generally refers to a positive nucleic acid test for the type A influenza virus. However, a positive result does not necessarily equate to disease severity; therefore, a single positive sign (one plus) in a type A influenza test does not always indicate a severe condition. Some patients with type A influenza may recover spontaneously, while others may experience more severe symptoms and develop complications, requiring timely hospitalization and treatment.

A positive result for type A influenza generally refers to a positive nucleic acid test for the type A influenza virus. However, a positive result does not necessarily indicate disease severity. Therefore, a single positive sign (one plus) in type A influenza does not always mean the condition is severe. Some patients with type A influenza can recover spontaneously. Although they are infected with the type A influenza virus and initially develop symptoms such as fever, body aches, headache, cough, and phlegm production, their symptoms may be mild or their immune system strong enough to quickly improve and resolve the symptoms, typically within about a week.

Influenza is an acute respiratory illness caused by infection with the influenza virus. It is highly contagious and spreads rapidly, primarily through airborne droplets, direct person-to-person contact, or contact with contaminated objects. Typical clinical manifestations after influenza infection include chills and high fever, with body temperature reaching 39–40°C, often accompanied by headache, muscle and joint pain, extreme fatigue, loss of appetite, and other systemic symptoms. Patients frequently experience sore throat, dry cough, nasal congestion, runny nose, and substernal discomfort.

Most patients have relatively strong immune systems and can detect the infection early. With timely antiviral treatment under medical guidance—such as taking antiviral medications like oseltamivir phosphate capsules or arbidol tablets—the condition can be fully cured and is generally not severe. However, some patients may experience more serious symptoms, including severe body pain, confusion, or excessive drowsiness. In these cases, the condition is relatively severe and may lead to complications, requiring prompt hospitalization for treatment.

Individuals showing signs of influenza virus infection are advised to seek medical attention promptly and receive symptomatic treatment to avoid delays in managing the illness.
