What should not be eaten with tofu干?
Under normal circumstances, dried tofu should not be consumed together with foods such as honey, spinach, or persimmons, as this may trigger certain adverse reactions in the body. The details are as follows:
1. Honey: Dried tofu contains various mineral elements, while honey contains multiple enzymes. These components may interact and potentially cause diarrhea. It is recommended to consume honey at least one hour after eating dried tofu. By this time, the body will have mostly digested and absorbed the tofu, reducing the risk of adverse effects when consuming honey.
2. Spinach: Dried tofu is rich in calcium, while spinach contains high levels of oxalic acid. Calcium can react with oxalic acid to form calcium oxalate, which not only impairs the body's absorption of calcium but may also contribute to the formation of kidney stones. Additionally, other foods high in oxalic acid—such as bamboo shoots and water bamboo (Zizania latifolia)—should also not be eaten together with dried tofu.
3. Persimmon: The protein in dried tofu can react with tannic acid (tannins) found in persimmons, thereby reducing the body’s ability to absorb protein. Other common foods containing tannins include bananas, papayas, kiwifruits, and pomegranates.
