Introduction
Moving shadows in the field of vision may be caused by floaters or retinal diseases. Floaters occur when the vitreous body becomes cloudy, leading to the appearance of moving shadows, especially in bright environments or against white backgrounds. The sensation of moving shadows could also be an early sign of retinal pathology.

Under normal circumstances, the sensation of shadows moving in front of the eyes may indicate floaters or retinal diseases.

1. Floaters: Floaters are caused by cloudiness or opacities in the vitreous body of the eye. In bright environments or against white backgrounds, individuals may notice shadows drifting across their vision. It is recommended to visit a hospital promptly for an examination. If symptoms are mild, no specific treatment is required; simply taking good care of your eyes and avoiding eye strain is sufficient. For more severe cases, surgical treatment may be necessary under medical guidance.

2. Retinal diseases: The appearance of moving shadows in the visual field could also be an early sign of retinal pathology. When the vitreous exerts traction on the retina, it may cause shadows accompanied by flashes of light. In such cases, a dilated eye examination at a hospital is necessary to evaluate the condition of the fundus. If retinal tears or detachment are detected in the peripheral retina, prompt laser treatment or surgery is essential to prevent loss of vision.
