Introduction
The correct breastfeeding positions for newborns include the cross-cradle hold, in which the mother supports the newborn's head and neck with her left hand and cradles the baby's body with her left arm, positioning the baby's head across her chest to feed. The cradle hold with waist and hip support involves the mother holding the baby semi-reclined with one arm supporting the baby's legs while feeding at the breast. In this cradle hold, the inner arm supports the newborn's head, while the left hand supports the baby's bottom or upper thighs during feeding.

The correct breastfeeding positions for newborns typically include the cross-cradle hold, the cradle arm hold (or underarm hold), and the football hold.

1. Cross-Cradle Hold

When breastfeeding, the mother can use her left hand to support the newborn's head and neck, while using her left upper arm to hold the baby’s body. She then brings the baby across her chest so that the baby's head is near her right breast for feeding.

2. Cradle Arm Hold (Underarm Hold)

In this method, the mother supports the baby’s legs with her forearm, positioning the baby’s upper body in a semi-reclining posture facing her breast. The baby should be appropriately elevated, and the mother uses her palm to support the baby’s head during feeding.

3. Football Hold (Clutch Hold)

During breastfeeding, first use the inner side of the arm to support the baby’s head. Then, use the left hand to support the baby’s buttocks or upper thighs. Place one of the baby’s arms behind the mother’s back so that the baby’s chest is pressed close to the mother’s chest during feeding.
